Opening DayThe new season officially began on April 17 with Opening Day at the marina. Even with an overcast morning, 135 members and guests participated in the Nautical Flea Market, the Opening Ceremony and lunch. By noon, the clouds yielded to a beautiful blue sky.

Carl Hawkins, our Commodore, welcomed all members and guests. We raised the club burgee. Each officer spoke of the upcoming activities of the season. Dr. John Snow, pastor of Zoar Baptist Church, offered a blessing of the fleet.

Opening DayThe club’s newest members–Mick & Ginger Houck and Andy & Tiffany Wasiuk–were recognized.  We appreciate all the work of Chip Powell in arranging the Coast Guard Auxiliary to perform Safety Vessel Inspections as well as Chip’s work in putting together the whole event and the wonderful food.

The presenters did an excellent job leading us through all aspects of boating safety. Spring Seminar
By the end of the day, 36 club members met the requirements to qualify as Virginia Safe Boaters. We greatly appreciate the work of Chip and the Coast Guard Auxiliary for such a fine seminar.
